Inventory management - manage inventory and materials

Inventory management

MyPlantFloor inventory management is provided by a fully integrated WMS system. This allows the system to offer functionality for the receipt, storage and issue process, which contributes to a more efficient, reliable and cost-effective inventory management process.

Inventory management

MyPlantFloor - WMS

The stock management module of MyPlantFloor takes the management of materials, semi-finished products, tools and end products to a higher level by supporting material bookings with considerably more detail and less delay than traditional ERP systems.

The system accurately registers the input (materials and raw materials) and output (finished or semi-finished products) at every stage of production. This is achieved by using the following advanced tools and technologies:

- Barcode labeling & scanning
- Route selection in case of connection with fixed silos
- Flow meters/weighing belts
- Material buffers

Stocks of materials and semi-finished products on the work floor

The stock management module is part of the MyPlantFloor-WMS warehouse management system and focuses primarily on the detailed management of materials and semi-finished products in the workplace. It largely functions as a supplement to an existing ERP system. However, if the ERP falls short in stock management functionality, all remaining functionality of MyPlantFloor-WMS can also be utilized.

This includes incoming goods, customer data, end products, spare parts and tooling management. It also contains all functionality for order picking and carrying out transportation orders.

Optimized stock level

Instead of a backflush action at the end of a production order, the stock management module of MyPlantFloor books off the stock directly after labeling and scanning an SKU.

When the free stock of a material drops below the established minimum stock level, the system automatically generates an order proposal. For semi-finished products, which are often not visible in traditional ERP systems, the system generates a production order instead of an order.

This method allows for efficient and optimal management of stock levels. The stock management module emphasizes the crucial importance of visibility and control, especially for semi-finished products, which otherwise remain invisible in an ERP system.

Cost savings

The logistics department receives requests from the production department via the inventory management app to supply all necessary materials, semi-finished products and tools, as laid down in the bill of materials (BOM) of the selected production order. These requests ensure that the necessary items are delivered on time to the correct production line location. If necessary, additional deliveries can easily be requested using the same process, allowing production to continue uninterrupted.

To ensure efficiency, the system uses LIFO or FIFO principles to determine which warehouse location should be used. Materials with an expired best-before date or that have not yet been approved by the laboratory are automatically blocked by the system.

By consistently monitoring stocks, the system minimizes waste and guarantees the optimal utilization of available materials.

Barcode-scanning-Voorraadbeheer-app

Less loss of quality

Before a production line can be released, the operator must check all materials and/or semi-finished products for accuracy. An overview of the bill of materials (BOM) is displayed on the operator screen, with each line clearly indicating whether the relevant material is present at the correct location. Only when all materials are correct and present at the machine can the operator release the production line. Without the right materials, production cannot start, which guarantees the accuracy and quality of the process.

Inventory-Management-Software-Traceability

Uitgebreide traceerbaarheid

Upon receipt in the warehouse, each material is assigned a unique container ID. This ID is linked to the specific container in which the material is stored, such as a crate, pallet, cubic foot box, IBC, etc. The container ID is the link to information about batch ID, supplier, best-before date, country of origin, etc.

Each line in the Bill of Material (BOM) can indicate whether traceability is required. If traceability is mandatory, the operator scans the container ID of the material to be processed using the mobile stock management app of the QA module. The system then checks in the stock management system whether the scanned material matches the requirements of the product and/or the production order.

This method guarantees that only the correct materials are processed and that the traceability of critical raw materials or semi-finished products is fully guaranteed.

Transport orders / results

Orders and/or transport assignments are automatically transferred from the ERP system via the ERP connector. Transporters can register via the special transporter registration screen and are linked to a specific loading location.

After registration, logistics staff receive a notification on their tablet or smartphone about the new transport assignment and the corresponding loading location. All details are also available, such as the exact location of the item and a photo of it for each transport order. Each pallet ID (consisting of item number, lot number and serial number) is scanned to verify its accuracy and immediately debited from stock. This way, it is always known exactly which item has been delivered to the customer.

While the truck is being loaded, photos can be taken of the cargo to confirm its completeness. When the cargo is complete, the carrier checks out at the registration desk to receive the transport documents.
